Sandra! Dahlink! Second floor stays AS IS. First floor will be mostly white. The north side of the main front though is already painted in the historic colors. The Secret Bedroom window (far right) will have historic green trim and black sashes.
The idea is that somebody driving by will think: Oh! This house will later match the big house! Cool!
Sandra, when I purchased the Cross properties in 2014 the Carriage House, first floor, had white vinyl siding. I removed this on several facades. But not on all facades.
Hence, white vinyl is still on the south and east facades.
The Violation Order demands that I make the house look better, and via materials already on the house. So, putting vinyl back is OK with the city.
I painted a portion of the west facade in the historic colors because I want people driving by to understand that there is a relationship between the house and adjacent big house.
Thanks for the info Ross. I was wondering about the drip cap at the very bottom, where the clapboards meet the foundation. There is a small portion of drip cap at the right corner.
You primed the wood right to the window with oil.
I just wonder: The glass in the window looks lager than the frame. Why?
That is probably a plexiglass temporary covering.
It be, JP.
You put the linseed oil turpentine conditioner on the wood.
You’re going to paint soon.
Looking good, neighbor!

Wow, Brad! You can see this all the way from Japan?
You are making amazing progress!
Refresh my memory as to the grand plan for painting??
I am unsure as to the color scheme? Upper flour Cross House colors and first floor white?? I’d that correct?

Dearest Ross! I am still confused.
thought the west facade of the carriage house, or the front were going to be painted historic colors.
So the carriage house front that faces the street, will have sections painted greed and vinyl sided sections??
Won’t it look like a patchwork quilt?
Just one wall will be matching the Cross House?
I’m still very muddled…..

Good progress on the linseed conditioner to the right of the window. Have you started to put the drip cap on or was that there before? Can’t remember.
Hi, Cindy! All three windows have hd their wood drip caps resurrected.
Thanks for the info Ross. I was wondering about the drip cap at the very bottom, where the clapboards meet the foundation. There is a small portion of drip cap at the right corner.
Oopsie, Cindy! The trim at the very bottom is a water table. I have some of this in the garage and plan to install it on the west front. I’m excited!
The trim above the windows is a drip cap.
Oh Ok, I learned something new today.
