Dear President Biden,

I’m a (kinda) average American, 67-years-old, born in Detroit, and now living in rural Kansas.

During the 2020 campaign, I was all in for Pete.

Then…in a surprising plot twist…you all of a sudden became the nominee. And I, being a good Democrat, supported and voted for you.

It is now 2024 and you have been THE BEST PRESIDENT IN MY LIFETIME.

I sooooooo did not expect this. The first thing you did to impress me was getting us out of the mess in Afghanistan. Then I loved loved loved that you tossed out the idiotic Trickle-down economic nonsense and worked to create a ground-up economy. The success of this is obvious. Well done, my good man! I was then dazzled when you joined a picket line. In a word: Squee!

I’ve also been deeply impressed with your cabinet picks. And just so many other things. You’ve improved the lives of millions of Americans.

I say this often:
Democrats HELP
Republicans HARM

Your presidency has proved the value of these four words. Thank you. Bless you!

So, too, I admire your obvious decency, empathy, and that you love doggies.

It powerfully pains me how the press has treated you (and your son) during your great presidency, and this pain vastly accelerated this past month. I’m also shocked and deeply pained that some Democrats chose to damage, rather than support, you of late.

It seems that very wealthy people have been upset at your call to raise their tax rate to 25%, and have worked to harm you. I hope you now raise the rate to 35%! Take that!

I wish you great happiness in the future, and if you are ever in Emporia, Kansas…

.

    How about a post script?

Urge Kamala to choose Pete for her VP.

    • Ross on July 22, 2024 at 12:27 am

Mary, I don’t think Pete should try for the VP spot. I think he’s better positioned where he is.

      For now…

Agree. She needs someone who can appeal to a broad audience, such as the governor of North Carolina. I love Pete, and I hope his time will come.

I agree, as long as he remains there in a Harris administration. We really can’t afford to lose any good Democrat governors either; I really haven’t had time to consider who I think would be a good running mate.

Wonderful! I was saddened but realized once again he’s thinking of the country. I love his quiet dignity.

    Absolutely!

    36% !

Agree. She needs someone who can appeal to a broad audience, such as the governor of North Carolina. I love Pete, and I hope his time will come. Your letter is fine. I think Biden has done the honorable thing for the country and for Democrats. He’s been a great president and done good things.

Well said Ross. I didn’t want Biden for the last two campaigns but once he was the nominee, I was all in because so much is at stake. I support Kamala Harris with all my heart. She is going to be a difficult person for the Republicans to chew into ground meat but they are going to try. We need to be rid of them.

    Well done.

    Perfect!

I love Joe. I am trying not to be discouraged but a I am so saddened by his withdrawal from the 2024 race. Politics! Ugh. Media. Ugh. The Republican ticket. Ugh. Ugh. UGH! ( and that is putting it mildly).

As usual, your words are honest, clear, and right on point. I’m disappointed for President Biden, he deserved a second term, but he did what he felt was best and I wish him a happy and healthy retirement. As usual, his timing was perfect; the Republicans have wasted their convention bashing someone who won’t be on the ballot come November. President Biden may have just “trumped” Trump! Well played, Mr. President!

    Lovev it!

I too felt grief when I woke up from my Sunday nap to find the political horse changed in midstream!

I’m a progressive but valued Joe’s experience despite my not agreeing with him about Israel and Gaza and I wasn’t in favor of him leaving the campaign this late in the game because historically, parties don’t win when that happens. I suspect that record will be broken, judging by the enthusiastic support of Harris.

I’ll miss Joe but at least we have him until January 2025. There’s a lot more good fixing that can be done and we can look forward to Roevember with the assurance that women and particularly women of color will be holding the line.

Great letter Ross. I hope Joe knows how many people loved and supported him.

Well said. And now, time to get to work getting Kamala Harris elected. Onward . . . .

I hope President Biden visits you! And I hope Pete is named as Kamala’s VP!
