Deliciously Curious IS BACK!

When I purchased the Cross properties in 2014, the entry to the carriage house featured two columns topped by lights (with cheap glass globes), sitting on crappy 1970s plywood base cabinets. The wiring was not working. I tore out the crappy base cabinets, and later had Dr. Doug make proper cabinets (informed by the original outlines along the side trim). Wanna see what happened today? Scroll way down…

SQUEE!!!!!!!! After who knows how many years or decades, the columns in the entry of the carriage house are again lighted! SQUEE!!!!!!!! (The cabinets are not fully installed yet which is why they look wonky in the images.)
So now…with period-correct wheel-cut shades and all new wiring…this deliciously curious and eccentric configuration is back as intended.
Ross very happy.
I have removed the ceiling fixture in the foyer, so the column lights ARE the lighting for the area.
I believe the conversion of the carriage house into an actual house circa-1921 was supervised by the original architect, Charles Squires, for I know of no other architect who would have done…

Strangely fabulous, indeed. Wow!
Those wheel cut globes are going to look beautiful with the light fixtures you saved from the demolished house.
I came here to say exactly this. Well said!
