Deux More Treats

Today I hung a picture. The white frame was selected specifically to complement the Knoll table. And the frame and table were selected to complement the white shelves in the adjacent library. The dark tone of the image itself will complement the black flat panel TV across the room. And….

…I got a curved curtain rod installed!!!!!!!! This was a nightmare. I had to buy a pipe bender, and thought: Oh! This will be easy! It was not. It took HOURS to bend the damn copper pipe and get it installed. When I was finished I had zero energy for the second curved window. So, maybe tomorrow.

I love that the highly contemporary picture hangs from a Victorian-era-style tassel/cords. The matting picks up the background color of the rug, and the two tall chairs.

The framed picture makes me incredibly happy. And, too, a punched-in-the-stomach kinda grief…for what might have been. Click to enlarge.

You got the Knoll table! Yippee! Just the one you wanted! And the curved curtain rod – excellent job. Loving the cushions!
Ross, is it starting to feel like home?
Thank you, Ms. Davis!
Yes, the table is by Knoll. I adore it. And I love the counterpoint between it and the 1890s chandelier above. Also, the oculus on the ceiling is the same size as the table.
The house will not be HOME until I move in! Sigh.
It is so…beyond words.
Is that good? Or bad?
The Knoll table ties in with the ceiling pattern & the whole ensemble complements & is beyond words-I echo Linda.
Ross-you have stupendously outdone yourself-gorgeous!!!!!
Yippee!!!
It is very good I think she meant:-)
Boy Ross I was confused about the “punched in the stomach & grief for what might have been” until I saw the image and then understood and agree with the nostalgia for the potential and what could have been something great for all persons.
I’ve been hesitant with deciding how I felt about the paint scheme… But I seem to remember several posts back you stating that when furniture was in, the paint style would click. I’m in awe. It really, really does. I adore this. Truly.
Love the photo. Thank you. Yes, if only. Did you stencil onto her sweater, or is it just serendipity that it matches? And the fireplace surround also echoes the matting and frame. Nicely put together, fun and formal yet inviting. Love the room, love the house, love you!
Reflection! When I enlarged the last photo in your post, it appears there is a pattern on her sweater that matches the wall stencils. Now I realize it is just a reflection in the glass from the framing. Sorry… I answered my own question.
I wish I hadn’t been so negative with my previous post about white walls. This is very warm and cozy and I really, really like how it all ties together. Well done!!
????????????????????????????
Ah yes. The portrait, and grief and disbelief. However, all in all a very glamorous setting. Well done, you!
Not following the “punched in the stomach and grief for what might have been”. At first I thought you were talking about other decorating plans but reading other replies I take it that it has something to do with the young woman in the photo? At first I thought it was Gillian Anderson from the X-files and thought “now that’s a hard core fan!” But maybe no?
The woman in the photo is Hillary Clinton, taken by Annie Leibovitz when Hillary was First Lady.
I have a Dana Scully print in my hallway, part of a collection I’ve dubbed The Hall of Strong Women, right next to a Tina Fey.
You. I like you.
Hello, Ross. I must say I was skeptical when you first started this room but I am loving how it’s all coming together. Wonderful job!
The composition of this room just seems to become ever more stunning with each reveal!
The room is looking fantastic.
Fill the copper pipe with sand to prevent kinking.
I have been following your blog for quite some time, but this is my first ever response posted. I have to admit when I initially saw the color you choose for the walls I thought you were CRAZY! Crazy to the point that I thought maybe I didn’t need to follow the blog any more so that the love for the Cross house in my home town could continue in my heart and mind. I decided to continue following to see the final outcome and I must say, I am amazed. This room is gorgeous. Stunning. And I think it takes a little bit of crazy to pull something so beautiful together out of so many unexpected elements. Hats off to you Mr. Ross. This is truly wonderful and I am so excited to see what else you have in store for the Cross house!
Golly.
I am very glad you stayed!
And I am also quite touched by your comment. Thank you SO very much, Sarah.
I love the portrait!
