FOYER: Day 8
The bone-chilling weather of late chilled my incentive. For the last week I did almost nothing on the Carriage House. I would drive into town, with the assumption that I would do some work but, upon arrival, would check that the heat was working, then feel the freezing temperature…and drive home. My old bones could only think: Heat! Must have heat!
Luckily, the upcoming week will have sultry, balmy temperatures: the 40s.
Well, SQUEE!!!!!!!!

…sheetrock the north wall in the foyer. First though I had to attach lath to all the studs to build the wall out to the correct width. (Note the artful photography, including the pair of columns with globe lights.)

Very good. You have baby stepped your way forward. If I were close, I would help you plaster or mud & tape. That’s my thing.
We don’t get temps that cold here but I do understand the too cold, need to have heat. Also the too hot, need to have cold. Now that my furnace is officially dead I will have both when I replace my window A/C with a combo HVAC unit. Will have to do that in all of the rooms now but will probably be cheaper than installing a furnace system, complete with ductwork.
I did a bit of baby stepping myself today. In fact a bit all this week.
All this week I went through what I accomplished and said, well, I will just do that tomorrow when there were still some things left undone. And I did. So I’ve been adding things to the list to keep going. Today my feeling of accomplishment was cleaning the pot rack which I have been meaning to do for months and finally getting my stove working after a gas leak was repaired on Monday. I am so proud of myself.
I am also so proud of you and thankful you are sharing all of this on your blog. You are not just inspiration. You are incentive to get it done. If Ross can do XXX, I can do this. I will admit, sometimes I get tired just reading about all that you’ve done.
More insulation done! Wheeeeeee
Lovely globe lights. So inviting to step into the Carriage House.
Ooh, I just love this foyer. And I love watching you put it back to rights, bit by bit, and baby step by Baby Steps(TM).
Here’s to warmer weather next week!
