The arch is in the house!
You can see how the arch kisses the window trim. The very bottom of the arch will get finished off in plaster.
The room now feels like two rooms: west and east. Of course, the room was divided in two originally, when the western portion was largely taken up by the blanket closet.
Tomorrow, all the sheet-rocking will be done, as well as the electrical. The closet door will also get reinstalled, and all the window trim.
Then…lots-o-mudding!

THIS – looks “right”. I’m very happy you were able to configure this in such a way to forego the nib wall.
WITH the nib wall, the overall shape of the opening reminded me of a 1920’s archway, and that’s what I always would have thought of upon seeing it had it come to fruition.
The arch NOW reads as consistent with the others in the house – distinctly 1890’s.
The kitchen arch rests on two nib walls!
The arches in the receiving room, and stairhall niche, rest on columns.
Mmm… lovely. The arch lends the whole area a sense of spaciousness. It feels like it’s quickly coming together! 🌻

Yes. The arch actually makes that corner seem brighter since there is a contrast of light and shadow. it really makes what would have been a plain bathroom pop.

My energy levels are still low.
But, Justin has been at the house all week. He needed my help, so I’ve been at the house for 8 hours a day all week. I’ve been…it’s hard to explain…living off HIS energy. Like a restoration vampire!
When I get home though, I collapse, and just stare at YouTube videos until bedtime. And pet Gray.

I’m only tacking the trim up. I’ll take it down when mudding.
