Inchin’ Along

With the Lincrusta on the east wall now looking good, it is time to focus on the west wall. It was missing most of its Lincrusta.

But….drum roll, please…no longer! I need to re-install bits along the top. Today I found base trim in the basement. I have the reeded upper wood trim. Note how the upper wood corner guard managed to hang on all these years; I need to replace its lower half. Note also the resurrected internationally famous west bump-out, upper right.

Yay! I am so glad all the previous owners just chucked bits into the basement instead of throwing them out. It must be such a treasure trove of odds and ends down there.

I greatly enjoy seeing all your progress, may your energy and enthusiasm continue for many years.

It seems you have solved the problem of making replacement bits for the Lincrusta. Do you have someone doing that or have you mastered the art of molding replacement parts?

It’s amusing to think that you’re spending so much time and effort on a relatively nondescript back hallway, and amazing that (like everything else in the house) so many details were originally included in the space that are worth restoring.

Fabulous, dahlink. The magic basement still has lots to give.
