Inching Along

Last week. See the window sashes in the small gable?

I took one set out to restore. Both diamond sashes had been “stained-glass…ed” with red paint.

Yesterday. The restored sashes are back! And the other sashes are being restored!

Lots-o-pretty windows!!!!!!!! The upper “squared” sashes in the big gable are new, recreating a lost feature. All the other sashes are original; amazing after 123-years.

Looking great! It truly is a blessing that so many of your original windows remain. Too many people fall for the vinyl sales pitch.

And their new windows have a lifespan of about 15 years.

I hate vinyl windows, but don’t forget, your windows were made out of old growth timber which was probably 200 years old. You can’t get that wood anymore.

Yet another reason it’s such a shame when they are thrown away.

It infuriates me, to be honest.

It’s amazing how the little things make all the difference.

Such amazing features & that they were intact. Wonderful to see what might have been seen in 1894 as all are original. Just stunning!!
