Inching Along
This is the BEFORE of a stretch of Lincrusta in the South Hall.
And the AFTER. I removed the ancient layers of shellack, which turn dark brown over time. The results though were splotchy. Ross was not happy!
Ross very happy now! I went over the Lincrusta with a single coat of shellack, which unified everything. The result is luscious in person. While the new shellack will, yes, turn dark brown over time, this will not happen in my lifetime. Alpha is already at work to repair some of the missing small bits. Click image to enlarge.

If you switch the trim around, it will break up the lines that show where the doorway used to be.

I figured you would notice that. I’m just so impressed by your work and attention to detail.
The beauty of the restored Lincrusta could only have been guessed at in the BEFORE photo. One might be tempted to dance with delight down the hallway when the restoration is complete.
I can hardly wait to see what color you paint the wall when you get to the point of being able to paint!
