Inching Along
See the curved dining room window? See the water table trim just above the foundation? I wholly rebuilt that, and finished painting it today.
Previously, I added a black pinstripe just above the water table. Today, I taped its upper edge and repainted, creating a more precise edge. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, precise edges.
I also painted the background on the second swag rectangle on the upper tower.
The single column on the porch received attention. I repaired its base, and replaced the missing trim above the capital.
I plan to revisit the “eye” on the big gable, as soon as I figure out how to reach it.

It made me laugh, “I will revisit the gable as soon as I figure out how to reach it.” Didn’t you use a cherry picker at one point? Is that doable? Boy oh boy does Cross House look incredibly lovely!
I’m imagining the repainted north side with your Christmas light display. It’s going to look AMAZING this year!
Bit by bit, you are conquering the North face. Sort of like climbing Everest, but with fewer landslides.
I’ve been wondering what you’ve been up to all week and hoping you hadn’t fallen off your scaffolding/ladder contraption! The whole dining room area is looking fantastic – love the “precise edges” and everything else.
My five year old saw me reading this update and asked what the picture was of. I told him it was house in Kansas that’s in really bad shape that a guy is fixing up. His response was, “I think it looks good. It looks *really* good.” Said with an implied, “Come on,mom, use your eyes, that house doesn’t need fixing!” He didn’t stick around long enough for me to show him any “before” pictures 😉
