Inching Along

Inching along on the south wall!

The two clear-glass windows are restored, as are the two stained-glass windows above (now covered with glass “storm” windows which I will remove). I am quite excited that in the not-to-distant future the pair of windows will no longer be surrounded by decay and sadness but by glorious new paint!

I am reminded of:

Before.

After. Look how the restored windows just pop!

Oh Ross. Inching along is getting you there. It really is exciting. The people in your neighbourhood must be so thrilled. To watch such a beautiful house being meticulously restored must be wonderful for them

      Thank you, Annette!

Yes, the neighbors do seem thrilled. Indeed, the thrill seems city wide, and even City Hall has been generous and supportive.

Often, when I was working on the north facade, people driving by would honk their horn and give me a thumbs-up sign or shout “It looks great!”

      This support feels good.

I have in awe and wonder read every word on your blog. Yes,I am in love with Old House Dreams. No, I have never made a comment, as I am old and not too good with all this technical stuff. I have been in love with old houses from four years old. Houses were all I drew as a child. My Grandmother drove us around on our errands, as I lived with her asking where would I like to go? The same answer every as am a little one was to see the old houses. I have many books on old houses and wish i live in one built in the 1860. Did I bring it with me from another time? I live in a great 1926 bungalow, not restored in a purist manner, but most lovely. I grew up in a 1912 Barber Queen Anne with 12 foot ceilings with many other goodies as well. I will most likely not post again, but I just had to tell you how very sincerely I admire you with all the really hard, dedicated, with LOVE work you are giving the Grand Cross House. So, wish I could do the same by helping you. Ross,The Man!

That north side might be my favorite side of the house….so far! Your work is just so pristine, Ross.

You’ve come so far! And every day, you come a little bit further. So exciting to see the transition.
