Next. I am hoping to permanently remove the downspout. I am pretty sure it is not original.

Looking good, as always!
Will you have adequate drainage (including some redundancy for heavy downpours and clogging) without that downspout? Our house was built with an absolute minimum of downspouts (to keep them hidden and away from thr front), which were just enough in normal conditions, but a few leaves and it’s a waterfall. A third was clearly added later, and I am planning to add a fourth to get more reliable drainage in normal conditions.
I had the same problem because of a bad decision on my part to eliminate some downspouts for cosmetic reasons in the front of the “big house”. Rotten wood and waterlogged landscape shrubs were the result. BUT, I am just thrilled with your progress, Ross. When you send us all a shot of the entire mid section of the south side painted, I am going to scream so loud you will hear me in Kansas!! Can’t wait!!
Mike and Tura Wolfe, yes. That will be a big celebration to all who follow this blog, and the Cross House’s neighbors. I shall chill the icewine for that special day.

Love that phrase! Can’t wait to see the south side in all it’s glory!
You will hear me cheer from the corn fields of Illinois!
And I’ll be heard from the hills of West Virginia! 🙂
In Georgia there will be rejoicing and the clinking of glasses! 🥂
