Inching Along

So, y’all know I removed these shingles. Not too much work. But no good deed…

…goes unpunished. So, more shingles came off. They were not rotted, but just installed badly, like with 1/2-inches spaces between them. Oh, the horror.

And then new shingles arrived. I am sooooooo sick of shingles. My next house will be concrete!

Said in the heat of the moment. Knowing your love for beauties like this, you’ll cool down and continue with the love. The repaired area looks wonderful and is now watertight. Just a little bit more, Ross. You have repaired more than 70% of the shingles. It will be fabulous when you are finished.

This is the point where east will meet west…you would not be as happy with the event if you knew down deep that you had fudged a little on such an important place. We are all waiting for the day… now, “Mr. McTaggart, restore this wall!” 🙂

I am confident that concrete has its own little tricks. When it comes to home maintenance, there is no escaping.

I’m looking at that downspout. I recall that the house originally had gutters inset in the roof and they drained through pipes in the walls and then to a big underground cistern. I know you wanted to get rid of some of the most badly located exterior downspouts. Have you made any plans about that? I assume that this is not in any of the Heritage grants?

Always the eternal optimist. “My NEXT house will be concrete.” So you’re saying you’re gonna survive this one. That’s looking on the bright side. : )

I am amazed that you held back on using the code word for shingles!

You know, that word that serves so many uses!

I know, you are being good!

    But next house, concrete, really!

You must have lost your shingling mind!
