Inching Along

What y’all last saw.

And now the window trim is painted. But…its wood drip cap is new. Atop the wood drip cap is a new computer-crimped metal cover. Under the wood drip cap is a new “crown” molding as the original was rotted. And the green trim had to be disk-sanded, putty smoothed, primed (twice) and painted (twice).

All the issues with this particular window were caused by a downspout missing for decades. Without the downspout, water from the built-in gutter above just splashed onto the window trim like Niagara Falls. And, this is bad.

    Outside window perfection!

Good for the next 100 years!

But what is that showing inside the glass?

And where is window inside house?

The window is in the Sewing Room, left of the fireplace.

Looks pristine! What have you decided to do to remedy all the gutter issues in that whole upper area?

Ooh, Ross, it looks so much better! Crispy, even. So much in such a small space, but the results are phenomenal.

Excellent and affordable solution. Impressive painting results. Happy dance.

Very nice! Looks like you’re nearly done here!

Yes, poor or malfunctioning gutters are often overlooked, but can create massive problems. Unless you’re out watching in the rain (sometimes on a ladder), or inspecting closely afterwards, you don’t even notice until it’s years (or decades) too late.
