Inching Along…With a Restored Eye
A few days ago I posted about the cataract surgery on my left eye, which was done yesterday morning.
For most of the day after the surgery I felt like a piece of glass was stuck in my eye. Not painful, really, but hugely uncomfortable. It would have been much worse without Advil and lubricant drops.
All this vanished though about 9PM last night. Suddenly, my eye felt only, well, strained. And this was a 1,000 times better than feeling like I had a glass shard in my eye!
This morning? Even better! I felt only slight eye strain. And I could see again! For months my left eye was totally out-of-focus. Today? I could see mostly fine out of that eye! Squee!
The doctor said it would take about 4 weeks to feel normal but today, just 24-hours later, I felt 90% normal. So, me very happy!
As such, I decided (of course) to go work on the Cross House! The day was gorgeous, almost 60-degrees, and with no wind. My happiness was amplified!
So, with the sun on my skin, an audible book in my ears, and eyesight!!!!!!, it proved a good day.
A very good day.

Wow!! You’ve really got your groove on Ross! So glad your surgery went well and you are healing quickly.
Thank you, Desiree!
I’ve was quite freaked out about my left eye going bad about two months ago. WHAT was wrong? Yikes, a cataract!
But, now all seems well. I’m just amazed and grateful and happy happy happy!
I also had a wisdom tooth pulled a few weeks ago which was causing trouble. So, October was quite a month!
Glad to hear you’re doing well, Ross.
Thank you, Stephanie!
Ross, I’m so glad that you are doing well. Tooth problems have to be the worst. Removing cataracts has come so far!
The progress you have made is incredible! You’ve done this so many times, I think you have it down to a science.
Looking forward to more!
Oh man both you and the house have really come along.
Repaired and restored Ross…just like your precious house. I am so glad everything went well.
So glad things went well & you are healing! Be careful not to strain too hard and protect your eyes. Did you get special sunglasses to protect peripheral vision?
Shingling is remarkable by the way!
When I had my cataracts done, aside from the improved vision, the thing that delighted me was how much brighter and more vibrant colors were
Tch, tch, tch, Ross!!! What are you doing up there??? But I knew you would….and it looks GREAT! As usual! I’ve heard that people love their eyes after cataract surgery. So glad yours went smoothly.
I’m so glad your eye is feeling better. And of course you had to work on the house. Attaching the shingles is almost done. You’ll be able to paint soon, providing the weather co-operates. Woo Hoo
Glad to hear it all went well. Though you would look dashing with an eye patch.
Ross,
So glad to hear that your eye is on the mend.
I want to say thanks Ross for showing me something that would never occur to me to do. That is completely finishing as you go.
I would have shingled, repaired rot and mended metal then came back and painted it all at the same time. Your method not only keeps you from having to go back and set up scaffolding in the same places, it gives visual gratification and motivation to keep going. You’ve made me a believer and I’ve changed ways. Thank you and keep up the fine work.
Thanks, Aaron!
