I’m not sure but I think for those napkin rings you need more forks and spoons of various sizes on both sides. Like half a dozen or so.
I watched it all and never saw the inspiration. It was about plans for the lake, the jardin Anglaise and a picnic with a lot of Greek food, plus a bit of a fashion show. Was this the wrong episode?
Hi, Mary! I wrote: “I got the idea from a recent episode of Chateau de Lalande. Here is the most recent episode:”
This, I hoped, made clear that the video I posted wasn’t the episode counting the napkin rings. It was an episode or two before the one posted. You know, a recent episode rather than the MOST recent.
I feel like that place setting just proposed… and of course I said YES!
Squee!!!!!!!!
Only just now?
I think that ship done did sailed.
I love those! Just the right amount of bling.
Ross, I cannot stand Phillip on Chateau Diaries. Please don’t try to emulate his table settings. He does not have a clue. He is a putz…and that is the nicest comment I can make regarding that smug kid. Neither he nor his sugar momma have any taste, just lots of free money off of the backs of other’s hard work.
Wow.
There’s an amazing amount of vitriol on the internet, aimed at many Youtubers but especially these two. I’m not a fan of their channel, not my cup of tea, but I think saying that isn’t the same as throwing around nasty personal comments.
I occasionally try to dig up more info on Dan’s castle and one thing I found was a 50-page forum thread of pure hatred and malice aimed at a whole lot of château Youtubers, especially Lalande. Anyone looking for a libel lawsuit would have a field day with that thread!
Thank you, Ragnar. I like Chateau Diaries and admire her for taking on such a huge old house and working hard to bring it back to life. Of course! I enjoy all the many people involved, too.
I watch a number of chateau vlogs. This is something I do while restoring lights.
Kenny and I watch the same vlogs and get on the phone to discuss. Here’s what we call each vlog:
The Old Farts (Journey to the Château)
The Young Farts (Escape To The Dream, Restoring The Château.)
Lalande (The Chateau Diaries)
The Roofless Guy (Escape to rural France)
Pethernicks (The Pethericks)
I watch all of those and then some more. I enjoy Dan’s Vlog a great deal and don’t like missing one! I also watch the Chateau Diaries. She is doing something some of us only dream about. I would never be able to afford a chateau let alone a home here that is 100+ years old like I would love to do. Where are those lottery numbers???
I’ve been watching Dan the Gardener on Escape to Rural France and I love it.
Not subscribing to Chateau Diaries. I loved Escape to the Chateau before it went to paid subscription on Peacock. Missed season 7 and 8 and bummed.
I’m a fan of those vlogs, too, Ross. The one I really love, though, is French Farmhouse Diaries. https://www.youtube.com/@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries
Older couple decides to renovate an ancient, crumbling farmhouse in Normandy.
Budo’s woodworking skills are astonishing, and the two are a joy to watch.
As for your place setting, the napkin ring is spectacular. You need a blue tablecloth or placemat with white and gold trim to go with it. It will be truly grand.
Lovely china Ross, Noritake?
Yes! Oh, you’re good!
