On Facebook Marketplace, Cody found a pair of Early Electric sconces in a small town west of Wichita.

Oh. Very nice!

I contacted the seller. The sconces were still available.

“I can pick them up on Friday. I live in Emporia. Would that be OK?”

The seller replied that they were. And she was OK with Friday.

Cool!

I asked what the address was. The seller replied with her home address, which was…on Emporia Street.

“That’s incredible! You live on Emporia Street and my house is in Emporia? What are the odds?”

Then, I had to change the pick-up day to Saturday.

She replied: “That would be fine. But, you know, I’ll be in Emporia on Monday and could bring the sconces to you.”

Zounds. This would save me a 3-hour drive. YES, I replied!

“Let’s meet at McDonald’s, next to Walmart”, she wrote. “I drive a white Subaru hatchback.”

She could not though pinpoint a time. “I’ll be at a meeting and I’ve no idea when it will end. But, I’m pretty sure I can meet before lunch.”

I replied: “Can you call me a half-hour before we can meet?”

“Sure!”

Monday morning, I got in my car to drive to Emporia. A minute later my iPhone rang. “I can meet you at 10:10. Will that work for you?”

This would be perfect. The drive to Emporia would take 20 minutes, and I could also stop by the hardware store.

At exactly 10:10, just as I was about to turn into the parking lot at McDonald’s, a white Subaru hatchback directly proceeded me. It parked to the side. I parked next to it. I beamed at the other driver. She beamed back.

Emporia.

She will bring the sconces to me.

We meet at the exact same time.

Don’t you love it when the stars align and everything just falls in to place?

Do you think those are the original shades?
