  1. Looking good, Ross!! I think my favorite characteristic of Victorian era houses is the DETAIL that you rarely find with other architectural styles. Everywhere you look, there are touches that grab your attention; the fact that they are usually totally unnecessary and only decorative just adds to the charm…I really admire the way that you have fine-tuned this wonderful old structure; so many people have no idea what is or isn’t appropriate, historically speaking. Some day, when your work is done and your house is complete, you really should think about teaching courses, either classroom or online, on restoration techniques for historic buildings.

  2. Question?

Is the black paint satin, flat, or semi gloss?

Not a black Stain or off-black color? Hard to tell if boot black.

I’m going to try to add something that was never there.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in advance!! I see large pictures in a large and thick book in your future. And $$$ in your future for all the incedentials.

    • Hi, Carole!

The window sashes are painted in HIGH GLOSS oil-base paint. On top of oil-base primer.

The GLOSS makes a huge difference in making the sashes POP!
