New Fun Things
Normally I eschew this kind of decorative item but I liked the finish, the scale (they are big), and the nice relief of the carving. And the price!
On the way home I thought: What should I put on them? 1890s vases? Small framed pictures? Then I realized that only ONE thing was ever likely to sit atop the brackets.
And I laughed.

Yup.
Of course.
If it fits, it sits!
I saw that one coming!
I KNEW you were gonna say that!! Ha! Too funny. I love me my cats too. Just adopted 2 new boys under the tearful eyes of my grand daughter who begged me to take them in. Buddy and Guy will be my outdoor kitties and my 14 year old Maine Coon cat, Master Chief(2 of my boys named him) will remain the ruler of the house. Cats are the best!
I very much enjoy your posts and am amazed by your passion for detail in restoring your home. Another blog similar to yours, in some respects, is that of victoriaelizabethbarnes.com. She has a particular passion for period correct “fancy things” that her beleaguered husband, Paul, does not share. It is always amusing to see how she bests him to bring home her prizes. The post today about her pursuit/purchase of a pair of gilt over bronze sconces (gas and electric) is right up your alley! Regards.
Ross,
I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry to read (on that other blog where you comment), that Sid has moved to Florida. You are a good man and Sid was VERY lucky to have you as his human companion.
Hang in there — I know it’s difficult when our little furry friends move off to the Sunshine State.
Hugs, etc.,
The Other White Pete
Bingo! (Still laughing!)
