Plumb Place: STOP THE STEAL!

This is my sixth post trying to stop the historic Plumb Mansion from being stolen in plain sight.

The property has no owner at the moment. It is in limbo. It does though have a receiver, who is the de facto owner.

Today, he confirmed that the information being given out by the listing agent, Becky Baumgardner, is INCORRECT.

He confirmed that offers are still being ACCEPTED.

He confirmed that interested buyers contact him DIRECTLY.

It’s is vital to act QUICKLY.

Wow, that speaks volumes that he said contact him directly. Really hoping this works out that someone who truly desires to save the house and live there, wins.

I just filed a complaint against the listing agent with the Kansas Real Estate Commission.

That’s fantastic!! It does appear that Mr. Kevin is above board.

I keep hearing good things about him!

          Crossing my fingers!

Good. Suggesting that was my reason for coming over. Realtors (Capitol R) have a strict code of ethics, and refusing offers is definitely against the rules unless the owner has accepted one and is not entertaining more.

What kind of standing would any of us have to file a similar complaint? I never actually put an offer on the house and I am out of state so not sure to what extent I would have standing to file a complaint but I would like to do so against Becky Baumgardener just on principle.

If he hasn’t already done so, then I should hope that Mr. Flott would cancel the existing contract outright. It is the product of a conniving buyer and an unethical and incompetent real-estate agent. Its existence, though a rallying point, is an impediment to the ability to enter a more suitable transaction.

Canceling the contract should not jeopardize the eventual sale of the property, as the conniving buyer would likely still be interested in buying it if no other transaction can be arranged. (This rather assumes that since he has had so many accomplices in his effort to acquire it through chicanery, he would have some assistance in acquiring it fairly.)

That may be moot. Eli has dropped his rezoning request with the city council. Could be he realizes that he isn’t going to get the property now that offers can be submitted directly to Kevin Flott, bypassing Becky Baumgardner. With right of refusal he would have to outbid all offers and he must realize that he will make no money flipping the property. He and Becky have basically poisoned the well by trying to “steal” this property. He will never get this property for below asking. Certainly not for $120,000 or $150,000.

“Eli has dropped his rezoning request with the city council.”

        He has not.

He’s just dropped the zoning contingency from his offer.

Ah. So he is going to go for the house to flip it.

Great news! I just hate sneaky underhanded dealings.

Can anyone update the page on Old Home Dreams and the other websites to indicate they should bypass Becky and contact Kevin directly?

    • Ross on April 29, 2022 at 10:15 pm

I have added an OHD comment to said effect.

This sounds very promising. Good news. Hope this has a happy ending.
