Relocating the 1960s
The very creepy studio apartment in the carriage house basement.
The sink was way cool, and I also liked the 1960s tiled counter and tiled backsplash.
The sink wall needed to go though. However, look to the far right…
…the 1960s has been relocated. Including the tiled backsplash!
This is a much better place for the sink and it is curious that it was not installed in this location originally. Now, there’s a window and the plumbing can easily connect with the bathroom plumbing.
The height of the tiled backsplash precisely aligns with the window sill height, so…squee!
The bathroom will be enlarged 6-inches to the west and 6-inches to the north as it is uncomfortabley small currently. There will be no sink, as the 1960s sink will be adjacent.
I plan to rebuild the shower even though I cannot imagine ever using it but having it will make the carriage house more appealing in term of resale value.
I plan to save the plastic tiles in various colors and redo the new north wall with them.
All this work will be done AFTER Cody is living upstairs and AFTER I am living next door. I plan to make the bathroom kinda glamorous and beautiful as this will be so unexpected. And, this will be my final gesture to banish the creepy energy of the space. For, surely, glamour scares off dark energy, right?

I’m glad the sink was saved, I kind of like the pink & white tiles. It looks so spacious with the original sink wall gone.
That is a more sensible location for the sink. Impressive how the tiled wall was saved. Bravo!
I think cleaning all the junk out of the basement also clears dark energy. Glamour definitely completes the process.
Ross: Odd question, but did the Carriage House have a basement originally? Or was the basement added when the building was rotated and turned into an actual house?

No sink in the bathroom?!? Yikes! So one washes their poop hands over the sink full of dishes or along side the chicken breast thawing there?!? Oh, a tale of horror, indeed!
Bonita, the sink is in the basement. I can assure you it will never see dishes or chicken breasts.
It will see dirty hands, buckets of dirty water, old rags, and dirty light fixtures. In short, it will be a slop sink.
I have to confess I was thinking the same thing. Even if it’s never used for food or dishes, I’d still want to use a sink in the bathroom, not a kitchen sink just outside.
