Resurrection

Ta-da! The NE corner is close to being done! I still have the basement windows to do, and I need to wash the dusty siding.

And, at last, at last, at last, I get to appreciate the resurrected east dining room window!!!!!!!! I still need to order the wood sash. But this all looks WAY better….

…then it used to. The window had been converted into a door in the 1960s, and the stained-glass transom was covered over on the inside. The red door has been returned to its original location on the south side of the house, and the stained-glass has been restored. Few things in life give me greater pleasure than resurrection. It’s such a rush!

Wow! The new sash and basement window sashes will finally finish this chapter. Every accomplishment is a big one. The Cross House is looking great. I can’t wait until my next visit to Emporia so I can drive by and see it in person. For those who haven’t had the opportunity, even though the pictures are good, they just don’t do justice for the real thing. It is truly a masterpiece of preservation.

The NE corner is beautiful, you did a great job. I really do love the curved windows on the front of the house. Every piece that is finished gives you incentive to go on to the next area. Keep up the great work.

Bravo Ross! I love every detail but those round windows give me a special thrill. It takes a real master to transform a sad doorway into this thing of beauty.

And a little bit of green below the shingles.

Ross you missed a piece! The small strip of trim under the bit that separates the first and second floors!

Seamless. If not for the Before picture, it appears that there was never a door there before. Excellent craftsmanship, Ross. Masterful, as always. *happy dance*

Ross, I was at an indoor yard sale this weekend and found some Victorian-looking faucet/spigot knobs. I wish I had taken a photo. I instantly thought of you when I saw them, but didn’t know if you have need of them. I can ask my friend (whose sale it was) to take photos if you’d like. They were $3 each, so not spendy at all and I was just going to gift them to you! Let me know if you’re interested and I will pick them up. They are very delicate looking and they might have been to outdoor spigots but they definitely are too small to be from indoor faucets.

    Jeanette
