Santa Again Visits the Cross House

For several years, whenever I visited Brad and Susan at the Gufler Mansion, I would stare at this chair and say: “That really belong at the Cross House!” And, today, Brad gifted it to the house!

The rocker is totally fabulous and fits right in.

Note how the spindles…

…match same on mantle. Brad and Susan are moving to Texas, and needed to find a home for the chair. He said: “We could not think of anybody who would appreciate the chair more than you.” True! Thanks Brad and Susan!

I was lucky enough to stay at the Gufler Mansion and get a tour of the house from Brad — and a long visit with Brad and Susan. They were excellent stewards of the house, and they will be missed when they move to Texas. It’s lovely to think that a piece of their legacy will now be at the Cross House.

What a kind & lovely contribution to the Cross house! Well made & cared for, it’s certainly an interesting little chair. I always think about bits of itinerate furniture, making the rounds through families and history. Honestly, I have to wonder if this charming little (nursery?) rocker has lived at the Cross house some time in it’s own past. 🏵
