Sinking Visitors!
For the first time in over a year (due to Covid), the Cross House received visitors!
Bill discovered the Cross House blog about four years ago, and read every post during a three-week marathon. He then put the house on his bucket list, and planned to visit in 2020.
Well, y’all know how 2020 went!
So, this weekend, Bill, and his wife, Vicki, both fully vaccinated (as am I), spent five house touring every inch of the Cross House and carriage house (they booked the Tier 3 tour, which is untimed).
A grand time was had by all.
And it was nice to have visitors again.
I asked Vicki and Bill to pretend they were on a ship, sinking to port.

It saddened me to think of Cross House sinking into port 🙁
I didn’t think of directions in the front of a ship — such as port (L) or the starboard side …..I thought of listing and sinking ship slowly limping into harbor or a port & made me sad
I love Cross House and that you have provided the jacking up with steel support beams on first floor (old posts about horrifying weight of house without:-( proper support!) also same being done to sagging floors (recent blogs) about Carriage House!
No sinking ships metaphors for Cross House nor those lucky to visit hahaha

The Cross House, Carriage House and Ross are baaaaaack!
Visiting the cross house would be a great trip…. {googling drive time from Dallas to Emporia}…. Do we have to bring old house parts, or cookies, or both?
Ross, Vicki and I can’t thank you enough for your gracious hospitality, and sharing your of your time. It was an unforgettable afternoon, for both of us! The thousands of pictures I’ve seen of the house over the past few years, pale after seeing it all so, up-close and personal. It’s been a couple of days and my mind is still blown by some of the things I saw (and heard). Can’t wait until we’re able to return to see the progress!!

So awesome! Maybe slightly jealous, would love to be traveling again. 2020 we had road trip and National Park plans… 2021 is now out of the question due to major health obstacles for my husband. Maybe 2022 we can travel again. Hope things are well enough you can resume Thanksgiving at the Cross House this year. Stay safe all.
