Small Excitements. Involving a Tender Moment.

I removed the library mantel so it could be refinished. Note, too, how I have been diligently at work resetting the tiles and thus removing duct tape several decades old.

Under the dark brown shellac is…squee!!!!!….actual cherry wood! The mantel is gonna be friggin’ gorgeous!

More picture rail installed. I love love love the end result. I am also still gobsmacked by the black Bradbury wallpaper. A masterstroke of inspiration. Crossing my fingers, the library will be finished next week. Ross excited! Only nine years in the making!

You must be so anxious to get this completed! So gorgeous! Awesome job!
So happy to see “milady” got her head back!
Hey, Ross!
Will you patch, prime, and paint the cracked plaster behind the mantel? You should sign and date the wall, at the least!
Blair! The plaster is untouched from 1894. I will though sign and date! Of course!
So cool! 😊 Happy for you
*jumping up and down, twirling, smiling profusely* Love this!
“The library mantel in a tender embrace with the entry hall mantel. Awwww, soooo sweet!”
Of course. They are old flames, after all, Ross!
I’ll show myself out…
Hahaha very witty!
The library mantel is amazing! Cherry wood—awesome!
The progress is astonishing!
Will you also be putting the gold leaves around the wallpaper on the walls like you did above the mantel?
I *LOVE* shellac. Probably because it was commonly use on pieces from a time that used gorgeous wood. The kind of wood and craftsman ship you just don’t see any more. Plus it is so easy to work with.
The tile restoration is coming along splendidly
How exciting that two rooms are going to be done soon and they are adjoining.
Now….is the dining room next or will you skip up to the bedroom since that is on your priority list.
