Small Excitements

In the dining room, I purchased this sideboard many years ago with the intention of using it in my bathroom as a vanity. Well…drum roll, please…the bathroom is about ready for this. So, I ordered a ‘tray’ sink and faucet.

I switched the black hipster table with this delightful one Kenny gifted to the house a while back. I think I like this.

The chimney breast in the library had two gas nipples protruding to each side. As these were covered by shelving I installed in 2015 they were of no matter. But now, with the shelves removed, they were visible. I just painted them to match the wall and planned to ignore them. However, these delightful gas/electric sconces then came up on eBay and I thought: Oh! I know where those can go!

Sweet. They screwed right onto the original threaded gas nipples. The newly painted walls will have to get damaged a bit to install electric lines but I can repair all this. The new wallpaper will not be affected. I have not cleaned the sconces yet. The bulbs will get covered by antique glass shades. Ross excited!

Those scones are great!
Sconces, obviously.
Scones are pretty great too, though. I don’t see any in the photos, but perhaps you can enjoy some in the completed room someday.
I will bring the scones when Seth comes to visit. We can sit in the fancy chairs and admire the sconces.
Those light fixtures are scrumptious!
Love, love,love the sideboard!
And that little table in the library is so much more up my alley than the modern one.
All of these are great decor choices!
I see lots of “finishing” touches.
The sconces are stunning!!
This is so fun!
These sublime hangs such as the table Kenny gifted….
This is so fun! The incremental transformations!
I just love it all! You are going to get even more enjoyment when you move in. I think I would be going from room to room and just starring at each one!
Is there a possibility of using rechargeable light bulbs in the fixtures? There would be no damage to the walls and it would be fun to combine an antique fixture with modern technology…
Wow, cool beans!
My 9yr old suggests rigging the gorgeous sconces so you can pull one down to open an entrance to a secret room. 🤣
What say ye Ross? Intrigue would abound!!
Love the changes, the room is coming together beautifully!
Yesssssss!
I love the flanking sconces next to the chimney. What an amazing find, it really brings it all together!
I like that little table better. and that wallpaper is A-maZ-ing!
Those sconces are perfect.
I like the table there.
I wanted to do something like that but can’t find a vanity, sideboard, etc that is low enough I can use it as a base for a sink. I love the design. If you modify those two drawers underneath you’ll still be able to use them after the plumbing goes in.
Hmm. Something looks familiar.
The cabinet I’m using for my nightstand as those exact same pulls! It even has the fluting and the same dentil trim. No wonder I like it.
Lovely vanity, sink, faucet, gifted table (thank you, Kenny) and tulip scones.
Just when I thought the library couldn’t get any better….Wowzers!
Does the fireplace mantle un-attach easily? If it does, then it might give you access to run the wires to the fixtures without having to mess up your walls…
Ross, I love it all. Photo number two shows it all coming together. What a happy space.
