Snoot
In 2018, I did a post about when I became, officially, a Crazy Cat Person.
You see, in quick succession, I took in 3 different litters of tiny kittens.
A set of 5 were found in my garage, meowing plaintively. What had happened to their mommy? I never found her.
Another set of 5 were found drowning in a flash flood.
A few months later, a stray cat I called Lucy got into my fenced cat yard. And promptly had four kittens.
Today, the last of the flash flood set had to be taken to the departure gate for his trip to Florida. His name was Snoot, and he was a gentle, loving sweetheart. He adored draping himself across my left shoulder and rubbing his head against mine while purring loudly.

Snoot, lower right, as a small thing. His brother, Chuck, departed last year for Florida. Fine, at top, is part of the first set. She, and three of her siblings, are still around

Awww nice warm fur scarf, courtesy of Snoot, while he was in Rossland. Must be a sight to behold Snoot and Ross together.
You truly are a saint.
Hi! How did I miss your other cat posts???!!!??? I thought I’d read everything. You have definitely earned your angel wings. Makes my small efforts pale in comparison. Kitty post are always welcome and enjoyed. 🙂
Beautiful cats! Beautiful picture.
So Ross, how many cats do you still have in total? Which are indoor or outdoor?? Do you have names for ALL of them?
And have you discussed the big move later this year with them??? Lo!.
What did they say? ( my friend always asks me that when I tell her I talk to my cats). 😁😆
This is a bit random but Ross readers will so get this—
I found a cat!
A few days ago, I was working with my 13 year old , 7 pound, aggressive dog, trying to help calm him (and me.)
It was going pretty well and all of a sudden I heard “Meow”. “Meow.” “Meow.” In a really sad way.
So channeling Ross the whole time. I looked under the bushes and found a lovely, very scared, gray cat, hunched up between the bushes and our steps.
I wasn’t sure if it was a house cat or a feral cat.
But it’s meow was so sad.
So I gave my dog to my husband and set about to save the cat.
I first brought a bowl of water because I was thinking if I had to call the Humane Society, I would use food at that point.
Upon seeing the water, a lovely, dainty kitty slowly came out from the bushes. She/he had very yellow eyes. And was very chubby and clean.
We have neighbors across the street who are “new homeowners.” I thought maybe they have a cat.
As I was taking pictures of the cat to post on the app NextDoor, I saw the neighbor (out in the street in his socks talking to someone) and I called “Frank! Frank!”
I finally got his attention and it was his cat.
But it had no collar, and I found out the poor cat had been out all night…
Of course I asked them to get a collar engraved with their phone number. I asked twice.
I am always hoping to find and help distressed animals, although it is very emotionally painful.
But this time, Ross was with me all the time. I was always thinking WWRD (you know, what would Ross do.)
So I called the kitty and he/she came to me.
Very happy ending here.
Postscript —The cat turned out to be a fancy and expensive Russian Blue. I was surprised that anyone would “buy” a cat. There are so many that need to be rescued. To me every animal is a soul. A soul that needs care. The neighbors complained that “the kids don’t care care of the cat” so I volunteered to take it if they don’t want it. They can visit the kitty at my house. I will call it Ilya Kuryakin lol.
Thanks so much Ross, for all you give to us.
WWRD! What a mantra! Bless you. Ilya Kuryakin will go right over some heads! I also cringe when I see a pure bred cat – too many to love as it is. I agree with the collar. When my beloved Zorro was around, I live in a small town and she would love to go outside (although cats since then stay in). I ended up making my own collars of red bias tape and velcro, his name and my # on it. At times, a collar would end up on my front railing! The whole neighborhood knew him and I found at times he’d been in their house! My neighbor’s daughter was visiting and looked out and said Mom, there’s a cat in my car! (had a sun roof) Neighbor says oh that’s just Zorro! Still miss him 4 yrs later. LOL. 🙂
Thanks Laurie! I love Zorro’s name too, and I used to love that show! Swish, swish, swish with the sword!
I enjoyed your story about him too.
Ross has created a great community.
All my best to you!
