The Kitchen Lighting, Part III

The refrigerator sits where the 1894 coal stove was originally. To its left is a gas/electric sconce returned to its original location after like a century of absence. The fridge will later get replaced by a 36-wide side-by-side.

Y’all have not seen the sconce lighted.

Several of you have commented that the door of the side-by-side will hit the sconce when it is opened. But this this will not happen with the swivel sconce pushed back, as seen above.

Several of you have commented that a sconce in that location makes little sense, being stuck in a corner. But, I will likely install a narrow base cabinet in that corner so, when taking things out of the fridge, a counter will be helpful. As will some light.

All these concerns though are irrelevant to me.

What matters is that I have restored a lost feature. And THAT is what thrills me.

It is lovely… and light in every corner is a must. AND… pretty lights are a bonus!!

I really like the main light fixture in the kitchen as well as the matching sconce. Good choice, elegant but not too dressy for a kitchen. And I see the annunciator to the left of the doorway. A real find.

Bit by bit, the kitchen is becoming itself again. It’s going to be a joy to cook there.
