The Party Of Pure Evil
For some time now I have been posting how dangerous the Republican party has become to the well-being of most Americans, and to democracy.
And I bring the receipts.
Yesterday, in the US House of Representatives:
193 Republicans Voted Against Capping Insulin Prices
Every Democratic voted for the bill.

And diabetic Republican voters everywhere will blame this on Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi.
My grandparents would not recognize the current GOP. I grew up north of you in Lincoln, NE and have friends and family that are having a hard time with the toxic, right wing people they encounter everyday. How is it in Emporia?
I was not aware of this issue until your post. Out of interest, I googled the topic. This is what I found as an explanation as to why there was opposition.
“AHIP, a national trade association whose members provide health care coverage and services, blasted the bill in a statement Thursday.
“While health insurance providers work to reduce insulin costs, this policy unfortunately does nothing to lower the price of insulin but simply shifts costs to others through higher insurance premiums and copays,” the organization said.”
Obviously there was a lot more to the story, but this seemed to be the central issue. I have no idea if this is a legitimate argument or not, but if it is, it does seem to be a reasonable concern. At least to me.
Which is why we need to get rid of for profit insurance. They only care about their stockholders and dividends.
Canadians pay ~$28USD for insulin. I’m sure if you poll other nations with a public health care system you will likely find that they are all similar. Americans are just being gouged royally by Big Pharma and the GOP is fully on board with that strategy. And they have failed to address this issue at every turn – not just when the Democrats are in power, but also when they are in control as well.
So yeah, I would say they are pure evil – As Ross has often said – they’ve done nothing in my lifetime to improve the lives of Americans at all (circa 1980s).
That’s because the U.S. insurance companies and Big Pharma practice extortion. Pay or die.
My landlord had a cat that turned diabetic in her later years. Her insulin was (gasp!) $300.00 a bottle.I remember when insulin was about $12.00/bottle. I’m a type 2 diabetic, thankfully, this rarely progresses to insulin-dependency, unless you refuse to follow a sensible diet. Nevertheless, I am constantly amazed at the lip service paid to reducing drug prices, and the total lack of results. I really feel that we need to fire our entire Congress, and start over.
We have the opportunity on a frequent and regular schedule, but unfortunately many Americans worship the hands that sucker-punch them over and over. My wife and I raised our children to support Democratic principles, but since 2016, each of them has been influenced by my father to swallow the poison pill that only the Republican party stands between them and some unknown terror that threatens the very fabric of their lives. They blame the Democrats for everything, and yearn for the opportunity to put Trump back in the White House. Needless to say, this has caused a lot of division in our family…I don’t know how to fight such ignorance.

I got on Facebook in January to connect extended family and friends, and it has been great. However, I have scrolled past comments and posts of some – one post is loving and faith centered, and the next is bashing Dems and certain people. They don’t realize how 2-faced it is. I just don’t understand and I refuse to acknowledge their mess. Lost all respect for them. Our elected officials are so removed from the average person, they haven’t a clue. Never ceases to amaze me how they say one thing, and then contradict it later – like do they not remember media and the internet has proof of what they said? (I love how someone will say I never said that, and CNN will run footage showing they did). Are they delusional? Makes my blood pressure go up.
I get it, Laurie…when I got on fb about 10 years ago, it was wonderful; I reconnected with people that I hadn’t seen or talked to in decades. After years of not knowing anything, suddenly we were getting to know each other again, sharing our lives… Then, 2016 happened…and I saw a dark side of a lot of people that I never knew existed. I lost so much respect for so many… friends from my school days, distant relatives across the country, people I went to church with growing up…as well as people that I still have some degree of contact with. I now avoid fb, I only get on once or twice a month and it usually doesn’t take 10 minutes before I start getting angry, so I log off. When it comes to seeing people for how they really are, sometimes ignorance really is bliss…
Lucky for me, it’s only a few that stir the pot. For the most part, it’s been a joy reconnecting. Plus I “like” funny videos and animal videos. Helps keep humor in my life. Thanks.
And why we need universal health care coverage and price controls on pharma products. For profit healthcare is inherently soulless and evil.
