The Return of Kenny!
So, y’all remember Kenny? For several years now he has been volunteering at the Cross House, and refinishing wood.
He refinished the mantel in the Round Bedroom, and then did several windows.
Ross happy.
Kenny also likes gifting the house with clocks and seating and vintage lights.
Ross happy.
Today, Kenny came by for the first of several days to finish the trim in the Round Bedroom and…gadzooks!…refinish the door.
He arrived with his doggie, Jet…Ross happy…and a fabulous chair…Ross happy.

Thank you, Kenny! Kenny also arrived with two vintage lights. I will post these after they are restored.
I was thinking that eventually, as single chairs find their way into the house, to put four mis-matching chairs in the Receiving Room, all circling a non-matching 1890s table.
That might be kinda cool and wonderful!

Dude, this chair is super awesome and EXACTLY the kind of thing that shows how one can be both period appropriate AND not beholden to stereotypes and limited stuffy design choices. I love it! I have no idea what style it is either, but would put my money on 1890s – such a distinctive time for unusual stuff like this. What a great chair… and the elegantly simple solid-color upholstery is a wonderful complement in my opinion. For what that is worth. Yay Kenny!! 🙂
I love your comment, Bo! Thank you!
I suspect that Kenny will also be delighted! And Jet!
Of course it is. As is using mis-matched vintage place settings and flatware for dinner.
I do this! all of my everyday silverware is mismatched art nouveau silverplate and sterling. It doesn’t tarnish if you use it all the time
I love that idea and LOVE the CHAIR ! Look at those legs! ( on the chair, Ross! Lol)
Kenny seems to be a good man and a good friend. Lucky you.
I’m with everyone else! I love this chair and I LOVE the idea of mismatched chairs around a mismatched table!
Yay Kenny!
What a marvelous chair! Love the delicious idea of mismatched wonderful chairs in the receiving room!
So happy for you Ross!
So nice to see Kenny’s smiling face!
Wow – gorgeous! I agree with everyone – love the idea of mismatched! Story of my life! LOL 🙂
Wow. That chair is a beauty! Kenny is the best for all his gifts to you and the house.
ROSS! You break the #1 rule of the internet: if you mention a pet, you need to post the photographic evidence.
That is to say, we need to see Jet 🙂
What a great chair!! I love it!!
Ross I believe I have this same chair! If it’s not exact, it’s very close! It was my great great grandfather’s chair and I was told it came from Germany when they came to the US. Wow!
What a unique design and solid chair. The rosettes on the chair reflect the ones on the Cross House’s windows. The top of the chair… master upholsterer level. Kenny gifts well-thought of items: vintage clocks (gift of time), vintage lights (gift of illumination), vintage seats (gift of rest), Kenny’s time, skill (gift of pure heart) and Jet (gift of living in the moment). Hooray!
