Always enjoy seeing that beautiful chandelier and the awesome table and remembering the stories for both.

Did you ever get the sideboard for the table?

You got new china? This is for formal occasions and the other for more casual? I don’t remember seeing this pattern before. It is lovely. I also like the choice of the gold flatware. My Mother advised me not to buy gold flatware because she said it gives food an odd taste when you use it. I thought that was bonkers and I bought a set of gold plated anyway and I haven’t noticed any off taste when I use it. I also have every day stainless steel.

It isn’t that difficult to acquire service for 12 if you search out vintage china patterns. Once they are old enough, you can get them for a lot less than a new service would cost and with online resources like the usual suspects you can not only pick up a full service for 12 but also the accessory pieces; coffee and tea pots, sugar, cream, S&P, butter and all sorts of bowls and dishes. If you choose vintage flatware you can get iced tea spoons, shrimp forks and bouillon spoons in addition to the regular spoons, forks and knives, carving, serving and dessert pieces. Many times vintage sets have pieces that you won’t find in modern offerings. Of course, we don’t have the courses common in the past. How many of us serve escargot?

I love that everyone has a butter plate and a butter knife and water, wine and cordial crystal.

You certainly know how to set a table.

Now, was this for your Superbowl Party? Somehow I cannot visualize guacamole, sliders and chicken wings being served on this table. So are you upping the menu or is this for a different event?

Ross, What is your pattern name and are you of need of anything? I have seen this pattern before? I find that serving pieces make the set!

Mon dieu–quel couvert! Service à la russe!
Would not the old Queen have the salad fork at the far left?
Stunning however, and rarely seen nowadays.

The china and gold flatware are beautiful, silver flatware just wouldn’t look right with that china. I love the napkin rings.

A dinner table set quite fit for such a grand old house. I’m sure if the house had a soul, it would very much enjoy people enjoying themselves so much in its rooms, and so I think your dinner parties probably make this old house quite happy.
