A while back I spoke with a Trump supporter.
He hated antifa. A livid, foaming-at-the-mouth kinda hatred.
I acted dumb and asked him to explain what antifa was.
“You know, antifa.”
I looked confused.
“But what is it?”
“It’s dangerous.”
“But what is it?”
He looked startled. As if he had never been asked such a question.
Then I asked:
“Did your dad or grandfather fight in WWII?”
He nodded yes. “My grandad.”
“Then he was fighting fascism. You get that, right?”
He slowly nodded yes.
“And that is what antifa means: Anti fascism. Against fascism. In short, your grandfather was antifa.”
He looked powerfully stunned.
“So, do you support democracy rather than fascism?”
He nodded yes.
“Then you are also antifa. As am I.”
I think his brain melted.

Yes, i loved that you got to help him see his own stupidity (it sounded satisfying 😊), and i love that he got see how uninformed and brainwashed he is. Even if it is just one person at a time, if we can get them to see the light, maybe we will make it through these dark times

Welp, they’re not a majority at least, though they are backed with quite a lot of money and power. I suspect that some probably don’t even know what they’re getting into and once it affects them, will probably have a greater appreciation for what antifa means.
Once it affects them it will be too late to do anything about it.

I hate to say this, but sadly he will still vote Republican.
Time to start calling them “profa”, or pro fascist. Maybe then they’ll understand what they’re supporting.
That is so awesome. I follow a group called Goodliars. Two guys who calmly and dispassionately interview maga. It exposes their ignorance just like you did in a humorous and head smacking kind of way. These people are so used to parroting their dear leader and Fox and newsmax. It’s scary.
