The porch ceiling is now, blessedly, violet. Thanks, Kenny! And the siding color has…after 8.5 years…finally turned the corner. Thanks, Ross! The weather is good to go through Thursday. So, perhaps the corner can be finished!
Interesting that Doug built the porch railing before you ever bought Cross House. So, maybe it’s only been 8 years and the railing might be installed by 2030?
Speaking of railings, I came across this historic photo. I see you’re going to restore the railing as it originally was, at least to some extent. Kudos.
I don’t recall you mentioning it was a hospital at one point.
The ceiling looks great, hope the weather holds out for you. My husband and I are doing some last minute caulking, priming and painting on our porch before the cold weather sets in.
Wonderful!
I love these updates! So hopeful and showing this amazing progress!
Love the violet front porch ceiling!
Yay! Colors on the siting are manifesting on the South side! The side of Doom …..due to weathering:-(
Looking great!! That will help you feel better also.
25 Years ago I built the porch railing. Are you ever going to install it? It will look so much better than the ceiling.
Hi, Doug! I have the railing installation scheduled for 2047.
A question related to the railing:
Exactly how does it attach to the stone? Are there bored holes in the stone for the wood to attach into?
Yes, JP.
I see what you did there.

It will happen, Dr. Doug. 😁Getting there….
Wow, after all these years the Porch ceiling is finally done.
It looks so good!
With the porch ceiling done, will all those wired holes finally have a fixture to screw a light bulb into so they can be lit at night?
With such a generous porch mostly done, you could put a few chairs out there and then sit and enjoy the evenings.

Very nice improvement Ross, congratulations on finishing the porch ceiling and progress on the siding!
