Vintage Electrical Porn

Recently, I posted about reanimating the long dead light switch in the telephone closet. Here’s the glamour shot. The original hardware to the left is to open/close the transom window.
The base is porcelain. The knob is wood. The switch is by Bryant.
When you push/pull on the knob there is a satisfying, loud CLICK.
So, in a small town in Kansas, something is better.

I know, LS!
So fun Ross! You have such a sexy light switch reanimating Cross House in the telephone niche!
Even some of the smallest spaces in The CRoss House have wonderful surprises.
Never a dull moment! 🙂
This is super interesting! I believe a similar fixture exists in the basement of my 1910’s apartment- a circular switch with a turn-knob on it. It looks like some parts are plastic though so I wonder how long circular switch designs were popular.
Might be Bakelite, the first plastic made from synthetic components. It was patented in 1909. Its history is absolutely fascinating.
