The all-seeing “eye” of the Cross House. Pretty fabulous, right?
Today I painted the eye green. It had been the wall color.
But Ross is not 100% thrilled.
I think what is needed is for the flat area surrounding the acanthus leaves to be painted the wall color. This way, the center will look like a elaborate brooch clipped onto the house. Love the idea. But will it look good?
Again, JUST the flat area surrounding the acanthus leaves. NOT the raised adjacent ring, and NOT the flat area between the raised ring and the wide outer ring. The change will be subtle but may make a big difference.

You, like the house, have a great eye and will make the right choice. My thought would be that the ring next to the trim would work well with your idea. ——POP! —–Incidentally the close up of the eye makes it look like it is installed like a window. Can it be removed from the inside like a window to avoid the dizzying heights of the cherry picker?
Tom is thinking that the elevated areas need to stay the darker color, and the recessed areas need to be lighter. So the inside band that drops down needs to be lighter. Hopefully that makes sense.
I have learned SO much reading your blog. Of the many things I have learned. one is that, whenever I think something looks fine as is, you always make it even better. More importantly, I think you have really good instincts and so I think you should listen to yourself. Besides, I know that unless you are 100% happy, it will bug you!
