Happy Doors

Today, Justin and I hung the long lost door. The door was originally over to the far right, on the pantry. But I don’t need a pantry door. So, I hung the door to the basement entrance, which was missing its original door. It fit perfectly.

The other day I returned the butler’s pantry door (far left) to its original location, after decades of being the basement door (right).
After the lost door was hung, I sat back with a silly grin on my face and just stared at the butler’s pantry door (squee!), the lost door (squee!), and the door to the second floor. So much remains to be done with restoring the doors to their original finish but, for now, I am elated. A door has been returned to its former place, and a lost door has returned and found useful employment.
A lost door has returned!!!!!!!!
Small improvements, yes, but I embrace them with joy and gratitude.
Squee!!!!!!!!

Found doors are indeed cause for celebration! It’s sad how they go missing, and are too often discarded. You are truly fortunate to have so many, despite their various conditions. I continue to marvel at how much has survived at your place over 123 years and several major remodels.
Our simple foursquare in Omaha was missing one door, and had another one badly hacked and relocated. Our new house in Aurora had five removed, but all but one has been accounted for in the attic and garage (although sadly those in the latter location were buried deeply in raccoon feces).
I don’t blame you for doing the happy dance. It’s wonderful you were able to recover those doors from a prior owner.
Yes a happy dance for this accomplishment!!
