And….

The gold picture rail was…insipid.

The black rail proved a bully. Wanna see iteration #3? Scroll down…

…ta-da!

I LOVE IT!

I knew that to change the black to another color, there was NO WAY I was going to carefully, tediously repaint a new color around all the molded leaves.

My first thought was to remove and discard the short length of rail and start all over again.

But…the leaves are gold. This meant I could ‘wash’ over them easily with gold, which would soften the black bully but not fully eradicate it. The end effect is subtle and elegant.

But the leaves visually vanished. So I dragged some blue over them, roughly. The end effect is subtle and elegant.

There was, too, NO WAY I was going to meticulously ‘wash’ the bottom edge. So I taped the bottom edge, quickly did the gold wash, and then pulled the tape off. Presto! An instant pinstripe. Which I think is a masterstroke.

It looks perfect. Like it was intended as such.

But you and I know different. Please don’t tell anybody.

Astonishingly brilliant! And gorgeous. It’s hard to believe it’s the same rail. Bravo!

It’s perfect, I love it. I won’t tell your little secret, no one would believe it anyway.

The railing turned out great. The room is looking great. If you have trouble getting the glue off the tile from the tape that was holding it up, use rubbing alcohol to take it off. Works great on any glass surface.
