Thank you, Mr. President

I am 66-years old. And Joe Biden is the best president in my lifetime. Ironically, he was sooooooooooo not on my list of preferred candidates in 2020. But, wow, has he impressed me. Yet, surreally, none of this is obvious looking at his poll numbers. His Gallup approval is a paltry 37%. And, yesterday the…

CH: Day 128

I know. You are thinking: It looks the same. It is not. If you click on the images you will see that I added another coat of primer to most of the siding. It looks more…solid now. I also began the final stripping of the entry trim.

A Touching Unexpected Gift

Yesterday, I again mentioned trying to figure out how to pay for the leaded-glass window which goes above the big west window of the Carriage House. In June, David made a generous donation to my GoFundMe to help with the window and I have been holding that money until I could come up with the…

CH: Day 125

The unpainted siding got a coat of turpentine mix!!!!!!!! Above large sash (left) I primed the OSB panel. A leaded-glass panel goes there. It has been restored but I cannot pay for it as yet. The small sash (center) I removed for restoration. It should be back next week.

CH: Day 123 & 124

The L-shaped patch of unpainted? It has remained unpainted for months, causing my neighbors…no doubt…to think WTF? The cause of this delay was my testing high for lead poisoning. Thus, I have been avoiding all work that might cause additional damage to my body. Hence, too, my new-found love of vinyl. To finish the…

Yes, you are thinking: Huh? But this is an extraordinary development. For, it is step one of…drum roll, please…THE CREATION OF THE MAIN PORCH LATTICE! OMG! OMG! My whole body is atingle. The cardboard will be used to create templates of the curved portions of the porch. Then, Dr. Doug can make the ‘backer…

Ummm…EEK!

Having hit a brick wall (see previous post) I have been looking for OTTD (other things to do). Today I vacuumed the basement of the Cross House. Few things bring me greater pleasure than vacumming. As I happily worked away I spotted something amiss. Scarily so.     Emporia is not alone with drought causing…

CH: Day 120

This is day 120 of resolving the Violation Work. I have been possessed by the Violation Work. Then I ran into a brick wall. A wall involving the total lack of vinyl J-trim being available in the entire universe. For, without such trim, I am dead in the water installing vinyl. And I never never…
