Very impressive! I can’t think that a restoration company could even approach this. SO much love and passion evident here. You’re really an inspiration.
Ross, your blog is the BEST! You’ve posted links to a few others you found inspiring, interesting, whatever, and while they are good … yours is by far the best. It’s so easy to follow from start to current time and that enhances the enjoyment for those of us with OCD tendencies! I’m trying to follow one that just jumps all over the place, mentions things from future posts (how is that even possible?) .. it’s about to break my mind! Yours is like a friend come calling–sometimes with good news, sometimes with frustrations, but always welcome.
I’m glad you noticed the easy-to-read design of RestoringRoss. I worked hard with the blog designers to achieve this!
My aim was avoid all the very issues which vex you on other blogs! I had/have the same trouble with so many blogs. What is particularly vexing is having to tediously find the first post. I loathe jumping into a blog after it has been running a few years. I have to start at the beginning! So, I made this easy here. While my blog defaults to chronological order (which no other blog does) you can just CLICK to have it reverse to Most Recent. A wonder!
Wow! Seen at this angle you really appreciate all your recent embellishments – and the touches of red in porch, plants and (dare I say it) chimney actually work beautifully as a whole. I am sounding like a record stuck in a groove but your house renovation is just glorious! I so enjoy curling up and reading the next chapter and I echoes previous posts in saying i enjoy your sequential format – so much easier to catch up and back reference. I definitely want the book. Once you finish the exterior that would be a wonderful milepost at which to publish?????
I knew it would look great, and I’ve looked forward to this picture for a long time…but it looks even better than I expected! It should be on the cover of a magazine…I have a feeling that the Cross House (and the man who brought her back) will in time become famous, it really is a national treasure…
So beautiful and inspiring. Keep it up Ross! I have been thinking that if I ever make the cross country drive from California to Illinois to visit family (rather than flying), a stop in Emporia is going to be on the agenda!

Ditto what Tony said. Your house radiates the love and care that you have given it.
Hooray! Ross has vanquished the Great North Wall. Congratulations!
And. I. Am. THRILLED!
Yes! It looks amazing. Many people around the world are happy, and I’m sure the house would be happy too. You’ve done good Ross.
WOW!
Love seeing the before and after pictures. What a difference!
I know it’ll soon be time for indoor things, but what’s next for the exterior? South face or East?
Fantabulous! The East side will be a breeze comparatively….
Good Heavens, do your colors look well in golden autumnal afternoon light. The “Light of Other Days!”
What you’ve accomplished is truly stunning, Ross. Congratulations!
Cross House simply GLOWS!!
You continue to inspire me. I must say that I am not so happy with the green of my envy.
Absolutely beautiful!! She’s beaming.
Just no words Ross for the amazing progress and heart and soul you put into the Cross House!
From the bottom of the steps to the top of the finials, it’s a house to be proud of. So, so happy to see its transformation.
