CH: Day 85
Today was 109-degrees.
That is not a typo.
Today is Day 1 of a 7-day HELLSCAPE OF HEAT.
So, what did Ross do today? He went to work.

I created some scaffolding on the new porch. Most of this was formerly on the old porch. I finished the sheathing above the door. Do you see the bird?

Ransacking the garage, I pulled out all the Masonite siding to be used around the entry door. No more scraping paint for now!
While this post might argue otherwise, I am not insane. Well, not totally.
The humidity level was just 26%. So, very low. There was also a nice breeze. I was in shade. Drinking water. With a big fan. So, hot but not at all unbearable.
I worked not quite two hours. Yea, not much but I know more tonight than I did this morning. I know what is needed to proceed, that I have enough siding, that I can reach the area needed, and that I can work in such heat.
To me, humidity levels are vastly more important than the actual temperature. Had today been 20-degrees less but with 90% humidity?
I would have been a dead man.

Pigeon stupidvising from the window above?
What is that box thing in the corner under the eaves above and to the left of the door? Almost looks like an ugly modern porch light.
I *think* that’s the bottom of the roofline/eave. It doesn’t have a gutter, so it looks different than the roofline on the other side of the dormer. But Ross should confirm.
It looks really odd just that little bit hanging there. But no matter. It will be gone when the roof is extended to cover the porch.
Well done Ross! The bird seems to be a fan of your projects too. Together, we coo with the birdie.
Looks like this week is a work inside where the A/C is week! Down here too. It’s supposed to break 100 degrees five days this week if the weather report can be trusted. And any day in Mississippi we have less than 70% humidity is a good day, so . . . inside work it is. Can only work outside in the very early morning or in the evening gloaming, and then the mosquitoes eat me alive, and yes, that’s with bug spray on.
Good luck on whatever project you choose to baby step this week!
