Degrees of Satisfaction
Yesterday, I arrived at the Cross House. The temperature was in the 20s. It was windy.
I prayed the boilers were working, as I had not been at the house the day before.
Unlocking the front door, I stepped inside. The boilers were clearly off.
Oh dear. Although the house did not seem cold.
Quickly, I walked over to the thermostat:
Oh. All was well!
Stepping over to a radiator, I felt it. It was not cold, but it was not hot, either. There was just a suggestion of warmth.
Yet…the house was at 50-degrees, exactly as it should have been.
So, not for the first time, I marveled at the radiator system.

Yay!
The 1894 radiators ARE a marvel!
Ah! The magical temperature thingey on the wall. I hope to explore that concept one day. In the meantime, what is the robot finger seeming to protect the “down” button? Is the highlighted “Replace battery” icon serious, or just advisory?
Heed that “Replace battery” warning. I remember waking up to a very cold morning and kicking myself for not having replaced that battery sooner. We had an ice storm overnight. Of course, we were out of batteries. I skated out to the store before starting my hour long commute to work and bought batteries. Stopped back at the house and tossed them to my partner (too icy to bother trying to scramble up the front steps) at home so he could get the heat going.
Nothing like warm toesies on cold winters. Your boilers are the strong, silent types; worth the investment.
