Yesterday. The door trim and siding next to the arched windows was not painted.
Today it is!
I am now focused on finishing the porch!

I love your house.
It also appears as though you’ve painted the lower (bottom) horizontal porch roof trim board(s) green; whereas yesterday it was exposed ‘body-work.’

We were recently told by a professional house painting business that we cannot paint fresh cedar for at least 6 months after hanging it, or paint will peel right off. Have you heard this?
I never heard that.
My cedar is at least 15-years-old.
It would seem the cedar would just absorb the paint as it s so soft & porous. I had a wood refinisher ask me about cleaning products used on my antique cedar chest— apparently alters the refinishing process. So it is curious that painters would recommend no painting on fresh cedar. Is there a difference between modern cedar & that f > 120 yrs?? I suppose your cedar is of the modern variety Ross as is Rachel’s?
Our cedar was recently purchased from a big box store. I guess it can have too high of a moisture content if it was freshly milled, causing paint failure. Another recommendation I have recently learned of is to scrub new cedar with TSP to remove the “saw glaze” and open up the grain.

I’m also a lover of Victorians, see none here in Az. It looks fabulous especially with the new colors and added trim color to post and other trim pieces. I was wondering if the north porch will have a post at the east end? You have done such a wonderful job. Wow!

As happy as it makes all of us to see your progress, it must be even more satisfying for you. Each day, more bits of the house are protected from the Kansas weather. And it looks lovely! Better and better.

I think the best hug would be a human chain of Cross House (and Ross) fans! We could easily encircle the whole house, I reckon.
