Inching Along. OOPS.
Yesterday the top-most horizontal board on the lattice was too wide. And the bottom horizontal board kinda vanished.
Today, I took everything apart and redid it. Argh! But I like the proportions of the trim boards better.
NOTE: The lattice itself will receive some trim around its perimeter. This will cover the small openings, as seen at the bottom of the lattice.

That does look better. You are the master of small, but significant details 😉
Ditto to Seth!
Ditto!
What’s going on with the window sills on the three arched porch windows?
(Shhhhhh! Not finished yet!)
Oops!!????
Proportion is important. I always build things according to the golden section, so the top rail is 5/8 the size of the bottom rail.
Grass or ground cover will compensate!
And besides, the new lattice is a faithful reproduction of the original lattice (including proportions which did not utilize the golden ratio). Before and after photos can be seen in the post from Oct. 30:

You are such a perfectionist!!!
Big improvement, Ross. That wide width was bothering me as well.
Ross,
Look what I found.
An old farmhouse mansion. Look at the floors!
