You have created a work of art.

    • Ross on October 23, 2017 at 7:28 pm

      Thank you, Ken.

The art was created in 1894.

But I do enjoy getting to polish it!

  3. Sandra Lee on October 23, 2017 at 7:26 pm

    Absolutely a masterpiece!!

IT LOOKS SO PRISTINE!!!! Well done, my good sir, very well done. And just when you think it couldn’t look better, one is reminded that the lattice will be done soon too. I can’t freaking wait.

  8. Jarrett L. on October 23, 2017 at 10:27 pm

Wonderful! It’s surprising how something like this can still pull a unfinished piece together! Good work!

I claim the rights to being the first to notice that THE DOOR IS ALL ONE UNIFORM TONE NOW! Yay Ross! Love how it all turned out!

Your attention to detail really shows in this Wow photo! Great Job!
I do wonder what color the porch floors will be…

    • Ross on October 24, 2017 at 8:01 am

      I wonder, too!

  11. Stephanie on October 24, 2017 at 12:26 am

Absolutely stunning. Congrats on reaching this milestone!

  12. Miss-Apple37 on October 24, 2017 at 1:20 am

Simply gorgeous!! This side is almost finished, remains the lattice and porch floor, and that will be it (apart from the chimney)? You must feel a sense of accomplishment!

  13. Pamela on October 24, 2017 at 6:30 am

You did it, Ross!! The house is so lovely and I particularly like the scheme on the railing.

  14. Clay on October 24, 2017 at 6:54 am

Looks great. And the glow from the salmon colored ceiling on the front porch says, “come on up and sit a spell. Let talk while the sun sets”.

    • June on October 24, 2017 at 5:43 pm

      That’s what I think too… I love them!

  15. Clinton on October 24, 2017 at 8:08 am

Ross it is looking so good! In just a couple years you will be ready for the Sternburg Mansion.

  16. Clinton on October 24, 2017 at 9:07 am

How are you going to finish the porch floors? Varnish, paint or some other solution?

    • Ross on October 24, 2017 at 9:16 am

      Don’t have a clue!

  17. Isabel on October 24, 2017 at 9:09 am

    Congratulations!

  18. Barb Sanford on October 24, 2017 at 9:17 am

  19. Kerri on October 24, 2017 at 9:47 am

Congratulations Ross on all the great progress! With each step, the house is looking more and more beautiful. Well done!

Just a flash thought … is there a way to finish the porch floors to match the doors? (and make it a lasting effort, of course) This thought comes from the inside/out view of the porch from the dining room .. to have the inside woodwork around the window be carried out onto the porch floor seems like a wonderful flow. I assume any attempt would involve buckets and buckets of marine varnish .. Maybe your photoshop friend will come up with a unique and wonderful idea like the porch ceiling ..

Fabulous! Squires is dancing a jig in his grave.

  22. Randy C on October 24, 2017 at 11:23 am

Looks amazing Ross. It just fascinates me that the small things make such a majestic difference and I do not mean small effort, but rather small relative to the scale of the house.

BTW, I printed all of the pictures I took of your beautiful stained glass during our tour and put them in my stained glass idea binder. I was showing them to a friend and was thinking CPR might be required as she was completely breathless!!!! You (and Emporia) truly have a treasure.

  23. Mike on October 24, 2017 at 11:29 am

You are getting a standing ovation, Ross!! Can you hear us all clapping and cheering? Bravo!!!!!

  24. JET Texas on October 24, 2017 at 12:25 pm

So lovely. Great job, Ross. Your hard work really shows.

    • JET Texas on October 24, 2017 at 5:22 pm

Also want to add that the 5th color really does add a subtle pop where you added it. You are doing such a great job with this beautiful home.

  25. Lindsie on October 24, 2017 at 6:10 pm

Is it wild to think you are a few pieces of lattice away from having beautified everything visible in the original b&w image of the Cross House? So much hard work! Congratulations!!

  26. Jonathan W on October 24, 2017 at 7:03 pm

Will you be staining or painting the porch flooring? I am curious as to what you choose in regards to colour. Cross house looks amazing, well done.

  27. Sandra Lee on October 24, 2017 at 9:44 pm

    Congratulations!!!
