Ross, are there shingles on the south side, second floor that do not need replaced? That can just be painted? And do you have to replace any siding due to rot on the 1st floor before painting? Wish I lived in Kansas…I am a good painter! But cannot do all that you can do construction wise!! ( also, I am afraid of heights!!! I think I’m fired!)
I LOVE it! Thank you for letting us follow this process with you! You are so incredibly meticulous, and this may seem weird, but the house looks “happy” to find someone to love her so much! I think I am not alone when I say, we look forward to every one of your updates! You have done and continue doing such an AMAZING job!
Hey Ross, congrats! Looking better already! Did you change your mind regarding the color? I couldn’t help but notice in the previous “inching along” posts that the portion on the right-hand side was green, and now it’s yellow.
Chris, I saw the tornado on the news, glad you are OK! With so much damage, it is amazing that there were no fatalities or serious injuries! Our neighborhood took a hit in May of 2009, so I know what a stressful time it can be.
Thanks Mike, I really can’t complain. I had some big tree branches broken and resting on the roof, but not through it. Once power came back yesterday, I used my reciprocating saw to cut them clear and drag them off. Staying in the house with no power and not knowing when it would be back was the worst part. At least I didn’t lose everything like some people did.
Just beautiful Ross, beautiful! I think this rates up there with the stained glass windows. I can only imagine the pride you feel as you look at it, well done Sir! Love it.
Oh my goodness!
It’s beautiful!
Ross, have you researched how the porch may have been furnished in 1894?
Snazzy! The green-painted drainage pipe is a flashy little flourish.
I was just thinking the same thing. Ross never misses a detail.
Gorgeous!
Remarkable!
Oh my, that is looking lovely. Doing incredibly well Ross, you have come such a long way.
Now THAT is satisfying!
Oh GASP! I love the little drain pipe too. Every humble thing deserves some dressing up.
Beautiful. Isn’t it tempting to finish up that whole nook while you’re there in that location? What a wonderful place to enjoy some winter sun.
Man, oh man, what a difference! Fantastic job.
Beautiful!
Ooooooh pretty!

This looks so good!!
Ross, this looks just super. The pop of green on the little drainage pipe is a nice touch. It’s coming together really well.
that is so satisfying. a little gift for my tired OCD, just survived a tornado in Dallas, brain.
Are you getting as excited as we are? Do you stand on the ground, look up, and think YES!
