Oh my I’m impressed. That flare is very well done.
Love the exquisite symmetry of the corner on this lovely porch just off my favorite room. Your meticulous attention to detail is gorgeous. Will you have to remove the interior porch wall shingles, or were they protected enough to sand and paint in place? And have you decided on paint colors for the interior of the porch? Thank you for restoring the Cross House!
The porch shingles are all in excellent shape. Although covered with a lot of paint.
I plan to simply repaint them. However, I will be using the original 1894 shingle color on them, which is lighter than the shingle color I am using elsewhere.
I’m looking forward to when you paint the porch. I can’t wait to see the difference between the current house colors and the 1894 colors (especially in person).
I take my hat off to you, Sir. I am being completely serious when I say that is some outstanding craftsmanship, especially where the flare wraps the corner. WAY too much geometry for my mind, LOL…I would probably end up throwing a few tools and then calling someone to come do it for me!
Nice work, as always. I’m sure the corners are tedious to fit up.
Do you have to dampen or steam the shingles that are in the tight curve to bend them, or have you been able to pull them tight during nailing as-is without cracking?
That is great work! The flare adds an artistic touch. I like the lighter color for the interior porch shingles. It will stand out when you are way down on the sidewalk looking up.
I adore all the unique angles, curves, flares, and swirls of the Cross house, but I can’t imagine how much more difficult it is to perfectly complete each task! You do beautiful work!

Thank you, Annette!
That is one beautiful corner. The flared out shingles, the curved openings and the rounded edge of the shingles. Amazing work!
Thank you, Sherrill!
Extraordinary! And dying to see the green gratification that is coming soon. How many audible books did you go through 🙂
That is a lot of nice but fussy work! Well done.

I detail this here.

That seems more like footing along. 🙂

Look at you go! Go Ross, Go!
Woo Hoo!!! So glad you are not dangling off any scaffolding! Looks fantastic!!!
