Lazy Days

3/4 of 2023 was a mad rush to finish the Violation Work on the Carriage House. I took few days off for eight months.

Eight months.

With the work completed at the end of December, I have been greatly enjoying taking a lot of days off this January.

Bliss. Utter bliss.

In addition, getting the water back on at the Carriage House was delayed and delayed and delayed. This meant that my proceeding with the next step in the foyer was also delayed as I had zero desire to trudge back forth through snow and mud to obtain water from the Cross House so I could apply Rock Hard Putty to the walls of the Carriage House foyer.

Just no.

This week though we has success via water and I have been enjoying cleaning the kitchen floor, scouring sinks, and the myriad thrilling cleaning chores (Kenny will know just what I mean) enabled by water.

In the interim…

…even though it is not the foyer, I cleared the area in front of the west living room wall so I could begin its repair. NOTE: I am highly focused on a one-room-at-a-time plan. So, I beg forgiveness at this deviation.

You worked really hard for eight months. You are entitled to some time off.

I’ve had more than enough time off and I am starting to get back into work around the house. I have so many things I want to get done I am having trouble focusing on one and getting it done.

Hi Ross, brilliant decision to stop and focus on your well-being. Love to hear when you stop for a bit. news. Do rest and avoid getting sick. Else, I would have to figure out how to get a violation to light a fire under you to be kind to your body! 🙂

Bravo Ross! Always good to have access to running water. Cleaning the place also keeps the dust out and makes one see details not noticed before. The foyer and living room wall are looking better already. *Hugs

Oh Ross, you deserve some time off. Good for you. Focusing on one room at a time is a good plan. When you are finished with the living room, it will give you incentive to start another room. Keep up the good work.

I’m glad to hear that you took some time to recharge; our internal batteries don’t go forever. I was reminded of this the Thursday before Christmas when my heart literally stopped during a routine test at our local hospital; I spent a few days in ICU before being life-flighted to a regional medical center that has a highly rated cardiac unit. Heart stopped again shortly after arriving, and I ended up getting 5 bypasses. I’ve spent the past 6 weeks trying to recover, and my cardiologist has agreed that I can start doing small projects that don’t require lifting. Scary…I wouldn’t take a break, so my body took one for me. I’ve retired from my high-stress job, and I’ve found myself a version of your Justin, so my restoration (old body and old house) are going full steam ahead.
