Miss Asia

Y’all have only met Miss Asia once.

She’s one of my yard kitties. She has spent her whole life in my fence yard, along with her siblings. But, of late, she enjoys sneaking into the house. I pretend not to notice.

She can’t stay long inside as she has no idea of what a litter box is. But, I enjoy her brief visits. She is, yes, incredibly beautiful but she is also incredibly quirky.

I like quirky.

Ross, I hear the character voice of Jack MacFarland (Sean Hayes) reading your posts.

Typically, cat quirkiness comes from a feral attribute which also keeps the hunting skills. …good mousers.

I have a special fondness for Siamese kitties, having grown up with two- Bartok and Beethoven. (My family are all musicians.) I took in one for my shelter that was unadoptable. She was so fearful she had to be handled with leather up to the elbows. She quickly became a lovebug and would bring me my kids’ Beanie Babies, yowling the whole way, and drop them at my feet. When I was working at my desk, I would get up surrounded by a dozen or more Beanie Babies. She passed after seven good years here. Now I have two for my shelter. One started biting when her owner had to go to a retirement center. She took Cinnamon with her, but it was too chaotic and Cinnamon bit everyone, including her owner. She has not bit anyone in our more calm house, sleeps with one of my kids, and loves to be held. Tina came from a hoarding situation. I have had her three months. She hid under the furniture, only sneaking out to eat and use the litter box at night, at first. She now is out from under the furniture most of the night, even when we are close to her and talking to her. I also have two that have tabby points and blue eyes. Mom was a Siamese, dad a tabby. Two other siblings are pure tabby, one so timid she is not adoptable. Siamese are often one person cats, tend to be a bit anxious, but are loving and sweet cats. And of course they are beautiful!

Miss Asia looks exactly like Miss Kitty, a Siamese that my great-grandmother belonged to when I was a boy. She was completely devoted to Granny, and very protective of her. Granny lived in the country so MK spent most of the day outside when the weather was nice, and would come running whenever anyone drove up; she only allowed familiar humans to come up the steps, strangers were met with hisses and growls. Funny… I remember how the ONLY food she would eat was Cat Chow’s Chicken Dinner in a can, LOL…
Granny and MK were together for nearly 20 years; MK was with her from my earliest memories (born in 65), and when Granny came to live with my grandmother in early 85, MK came too. She did not adjust well to the new surroundings, and later that year when Granny’s condition reached the point that she had to go to the nursing home, Miss Kitty quickly moved to Florida. I had not thought of her in a long time, thank you for jogging my memories this morning.

She’s beautiful! (Also, if you showed her where the litter box was, she might use it. Cats are funny that way).

Wow, she is gorgeous! We had a Siamese called Cinderella. She was a brilliant kitty and could make up very complicated games. She would take a marble from the soap dish, put it in the bathtub, and gave it a push with her paw. It rolled it around the bathtub. There were rules, lol. If the marble landed in the drain, the game had to start over.
