There are polls.
There are forecasts.
These are two vastly different things.
The former can often be wrong. Like with the much-vaunted poll-predicted RED WAVE of 2022. Which never happened.
The latter is beyond worthless. Like with the current NYT forecast, which predicts a Trump win. And why? Because he has won a number of states he was entirely predicted to win. But, he has not flipped a single state.
And because he’s doing well with rural voters…AS EXPECTED. Rural votes though are counted quickly because not many people live in rural areas. So…duh! Trump looks good early on. Just as he did in 2020 when people were FREAKING OUT about early results and FUCKING FORECASTS.
As with 2020, ignore all early results and forecasts. As with 2020, we may not know the actual results for several days.

Good to read your post, Ross. Usually I am glued to the news on election night, but couldn’t with Joe in 2020 and too nervous with Kamala tonight. My first client tomorrow morning is a not very bright Trumper! Gonna keep her talking about her travels. Lol

I made the mistake of looking at the early results and came damned close to vomiting. Then I looked more closely at the states that were left to count, added things up, and developed a more visceral understanding of the swing states. We need to get rid of the electoral college. It’s the stupidest college on the planet.
If we have a trifecta I hope they work towards popular vote too!
Looks like we’ll probably lose the Senate but might gain the House. I need to take a pill and go to bed.

Thanks for this. I’m watching and very very nervous. Yes, we need to abolish the electoral college, but to do that we need to have Dems in all three national areas….
She can’t win without Pennsylvania and right now the numbers are not looking good.
I really can’t believe so many people would vote for a criminal and sexual predator, especially after the deplorable mess he made the first time. The lies, the blatant lies, the insults and hatred, the promises of violence, the signs of dementia. And Project 2025 and like the installation of President Shady Vance when they 25th him out or he just dies in office.
It shouldn’t even have been close.
I guess Georgia should be congratulated for cheating the state for Trump. But that doesn’t excuse Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. He rogered them the first time and now they’ve just bent over for a second helping.
I’m praying for some sort of miracle.
It’s NOT believable. Especially the idea that he did get the popular vote as well. I cannot believe it.

I’m on shock. And scared for the future.

I got up at three this morning, turned on the TV, and am just sick. This is not the country I grew up in. It i not the country I thought I knew.
We are returning to the world I was born to. I’m almost 70 now, and celebrated each win for female autonomy whether small or large. If I didn’t have a farm I’d leave the country.
I feel broken. And so incredibly sad.
And it’s already starting. I got doxxed today on FB over it. Be careful out there my friends!
