Stencilling…A Subtle Update

This is how I left things yesterday.

But I wasn’t entirely happy with the way the ceiling pattern died into the wall. As I drove home I had an idea…

…which I implemented today. I created a border at the edge of the ceiling, with the same clear polyurethane as the “cracked ice” lines. I also went over the frieze with the same clear poly. The change is subtle, but makes a big difference I think.

It will look even better soon. It will receive some decorative trim. I will then do a post on it.

It really does a great job making the frieze feel like it has a little more substance.

I wish I had the eye for design to do something similar

BOOM! And there you go. Small change? Big difference. Now the ceiling looks less like one of those plastic storage container lids that does-not-quite-fit just plunked on to make do… and a little more like a perfectly swirled icing topping a beautiful cupcake… WITH sprinkles! Thank you very much. (Wish I could type sprinkles in a metallic ink and animate to, well, sparkle 😉

Yes, more “contained” – a nice stroke.

Much more finished and intentional. Very pleasing to the eye.

Love love love the way this is coming together!!!! So uniquely Ross–simply amazing!! The decorating scheme is so eclectic and in tune with the beautiful 1894 Cross House features. It all works together for a beautiful and pleasing composition.

I do apologize for the repeated posts. For some reason it does not post initial and states d/t duplicates. Then both are posted with a slight variation. I am using an iPad and am basically an IT dinosaur but also not a dope just appear to be one! Oopsie-daisy! Will try not to do this again and be more patient.

      I normally delete the “twin”!
